I like experimenting with my art…whether its with the paint, paper, support, brushes, non brushes, removing layers, textures…..using the same materials in unconventional ways….I was reading someones blog the other day and he was referencing an author’s book about there being basically two types of artists: experimental and conventional.. I had not really thought about it before….but it does make a lot of sense. Perhaps that’s why I prefer the abstract genre…as I can create something new….I have no interest in replicating something that already exists. Mind you, I didn’t go into this consciously, just noticing what is. Please know that I can certainly appreciate the skill of artists that do replicate, even if it is their own interpretation…..this goes for musicians as well. I’m just exploring what drives us…Where does that propensity come from? It is making me think how this apply’s to many walks of life, not just conventional or experimental artists, but also in the broader scope of life! I think it is important for us to honor and acknowledge each others path whether or not we personaly understand it or not; or for that matter agree with it! Just makes you think; at least me1 Anyone want to comment and add to these thoughts are welcome. I hope I can find that blog again. I forgot to save it. Just remembering, in a former life I was involved with songwriting, and collaborated with some musicians with my lyrics….anyhow….I remeber being puzzled why a musician would just do covers and be satisfied with that??#@ Know I think I’m starting to get closer to the answer.
